Every accomplishment is the direct result of good teamwork from club members and the dog/handler team. A special thank you to all the teams that helped contribute to Anna's success. The Teams are listed below. Now see all the dogs Anna ran with during her Flyball career.
July 9, 2006 at the Wag-for-Wishes tournament Anna became the first dog in the history of the U-FLI® Flyball League to earn this Milestone plaque. A certificate was issued to her at the tournament awards ceremony in honor of her achievement. Anna was running on the Lickety Splits Stealth team which took 4th place in the Standard Division 1. The other dogs on the team were Cowboy (Australian Shepherd), Chance (Border Collie), and Taz (Mixed breed).
Anna was awarded her plaque on September 16, 2006 at the Rocket Dog Racers Beach Blast Tournament in Ventura, California. Terry May made the presentation.
I really want to thank EVERYONE for participating in this wonderful tournament this year. I had such an incredible time. It was one of those weekends that everything seems to fall into place and no matter what you do it just gets better and better. It was so much fun meeting the Canadians and sharing a campsite and meals with them. I am very proud of the four new dogs that were able to debut and title this weekend on a pick-up team comprised of two Woof Gang dogs Ryver (Toller) and Casey (BC Mix) and two 2 Fast 4 Paws dogs Callie (BC) and Casey (mix). This was a last minute get together that allowed all these dogs to run together for the first time. They were just 10 points short of their title when their box malfunctioned. It was the last race of the day and most teams had already put away their boxes. Mike Bassett from Woof Gang carried the Woof Gang team’s box all the way back to the ring allowing them all to title. They were all a bundle of nerves, but the expressions on their faces when they finished their last race was a priceless Kodak moment. I have a couple of little brags and a boat load of gratitude to express ... Thanks to Chris and Bill Davis of Lickety Splits for letting us use their beautiful house for a Friday night Pot Luck dinner with the Canadians, Xtreme Heat and Lickety Splits. It was really nice to get to know the Canadians and can’t wait to be together with them again sometime in the future. I promise that Lickety Splits will learn your National Anthem by then so we don’t sound so much like we are singing “Oh Christmas Tree” - Tee hee! Friday morning Anna was able to get in three Obstacle Lure Course races before I had to go into the Scripps Urgent Care Unit for about five hours. While I was gone my good friend, Esther Smithstan, watched Anna for me and in doing so Anna was able to play with her sister Inge. Thank you so much Esther you will never know how much I appreciate your friendship and support. When I returned Anna was able to get in two more Lure Course runs. She loves this sport. Anna finish 1st that day with a 12.63 for dogs under 13” and she wasn’t too far behind the other two bigger dogs. Saturday the whole Lickety Splits team got behind Anna to help her be the first dog to earn the U-FLI® 20,000 Milestone Plaque. The team sacrificed their chances of placing by running safe, clean and even re-running dogs to earn the extra points. It was very hot and humid this weekend so re-running dogs was a huge sacrifice because it meant that the dogs would tire easy and deplete any chances of winning later in the day. We all ran well and finished the first day just 195 points shy from our goal. Sunday morning with the help of the team Anna earned her plaque in the first heat of the third race. After much celebration the team went on to playing the edge with closer passes and finishing out at third place in the division. I also was given the opportunity to run another dog on the team, Pagan and JRT. I usually don’t do this because I am not able make many team practices. I just run my dog and time or box load for the other squads. It was really fun running Pagan; he is such a little lover. I am very grateful to so many people, teams, and the sport of Flyball for giving Anna and I the opportunity to get so far in such a short amount of time. It does take teamwork and sacrifice but it also takes the supporting flyball community. I am fortunate to be a member of two flyball teams, Woof Gang and Lickety Splits. Thank you Woof Gang for letting Anna continue to practice with you on Fridays and for your kind words and support. Thank you Lickety splits for putting up with me and for putting me up. I live 100 miles away from the team and when I go to practice and tournaments the team gives me shelter, support, and good times. Both teams allow me to escape my otherwise not so fun daily grind and make me laugh a lot. And for that I a grateful! We have been very fortunate to have so many teams host and participate in U-FLI® tournaments in the California, Nevada area. You can always count on Fast Fourward, Howlin’ to run, Rocket Dog Racers, No Fear, Woof Gang, Online K9s, Xtreme Heat, Catchers on the Fly, Touch N Go, Fly n’ Aces, Stampede, Atomic Dogs, Vegas Velocity, and Lickety Splits to participate in the Southern California and Nevada tournaments. I personally appreciate all their support and am extremely grateful that I have had the opportunity to get to know all of them. I was very proud that Flyball was able to donate $7,100 to the San Diego Make a Wish Program. We out did ourselves from the previous years $5,000 donations. My very happy and successful weekend finished with just about the best news I have had in a very long time. When I arrived home I received an e-mail from a wonderful Flyball person from Texas Heat that I have never met, Vicki McCullough. She told me that she just shipped me a wheel chair for Rags my Chesapeake Bay Retriever with DM. Flyball people are the greatest!! Thank you so much for your kindness it brings tears to my eyes and is another fine example of “Pay it Forward Flyball”. “I love you guys!” “You are the greatest!” |
Wow, Sally. One of our own, gets the FIRST ever dog to reach the United Flyball International's 20,000 points milestones. Hmm, wonder just how many border collies and gosh forbid, Jack Russell Terrier or Rat Terriers (breeds we are often mistaken for) did we have to beat out to win this awesome accomplishment. For all our non-flyball, but, much loved DFD families, this IS quite an accomplishment. Esther Thanks for your thoughts Sally. This is really a nice letter to send to the list and also a nice thank you to the team. The old timers on the team understand what it takes to get a special title for a dog. The new folks don't know enough yet to understand and I have been trying to find ways to put some of these concepts into words to help them start to think like a team player. You just did a great job of expressing some of those concepts... Thanks!! It is a LOT better to learn this from a positive example and from a team member other than Peg and I. You and Anna deserve to be the first to earn this award, you are both really reliable and competent on the field. I am sooooo glad to have you guys follow my big dog :-) I trust you both completely. Top Flight First Class Pin, "TFFC" (20,500 Points) earned September 16, 2006 at the Rocket Dog Racers Beach Blast Tournament in Ventura, CA. Anna ran on the Lickety Splits Ambush team with Jet (Border Collie), Cowboy (Australian Shepherd), and Libby (Australian Cattle Dog). They placed 1st in Variety Division 1. Their fastest time was 19.009.
Anna was the first dog to achieve this title and has remained the Top Dog (highest titled dog) for the remained of her flyball career.
October 21, 2007 at the Touch-N-Go Jumps N Jackpots Tournament in Logandale, NV. Anna was running on the Lickety Splits Ambush team which took 1st place in Variety Division 1. Their fastest time was 18.360. The other dogs on the team were Mimic (Stafforshire Bull Terrier), Chance (Border Collie), Jet (Border Collie), and Twister (Mixed breed).
Anna was awarded her plaque on November 10, 2007 at the U-FLI® Championship Tournament in Canton, TX.
Top Flight World Class, "TFWC" (35,500 Points) earned November 10, 2007 at the Hyper Flight Y'all-FLI 2007 Tournament in Canton, TX. Anna ran on the Lickety Splits Covert team with Taz (Mixed Breed), Cowboy (Australian Shepherd), Scrambull (Mixed Breed), and Mimic (Stafforshire Bull Terrier). They placed 4th in Standard Division 2. Their fastest time was 18.557.
January 17, 2009 at the Phoenix Fuzion Wags for Wishes Tournament in Glendale, AZ.
It was disappointing that Anna was not able to earn this milestone plaque in 2008 as she had earned a plaque in 2006 and 2007. She finished 2008 just 5 points short of the 50,000.
Normally she would have earned her new title in the first heat of the new year, however, this heat was a "Chinese Fire Drill".

There was a lot of confusion as to which heat Anna earned her 50K plaque, the first or the second. I saved the balls from both heats. She earned her plaque in the first race of the new year all the same. Stan Eskridge was the box loader for Anna's title heats.
Anna was running on the Lickety Splits Predator team which took 1st place in Standard Division 1. Their fastest time was 17.874. The other dogs on the team were Chance (Border Collie), Chance (Border Collie), Holly (Border Collie), Twister (Mixed breed), Crack (Mixed Breed) and Coup (Mixed Breed).
Terry May awarded Anna her plaque and a framed "First to Achieve" certificate at the Nutts for Mutts II tournament, April 5, 2009. Anna did not run at this tournament because she had her foot in a cast from a broken toe. The Danish/Swedish Farmdog Club of America, Inc. members presented Anna with a miniature Flyball box filled with greeting cards from Farmdog owners all over the United States. They also presented her with a personalized wooden keep-sake box.
Top Flight Extreme, "TFX" (54,500 Points) earned October 24, 2009 at the Touch-N-Go Jumps N Jackpots Tournament in Hurricane, UT. Anna ran on the Lickety Splits Covert team with Scrambull (Mixed Breed), Vengeance (Border Collie), Siren (Mixed Breed), and Pastah! (Mixed Breed). They placed 2nd in Standard Division 5. Their fastest time was 18.060.
October 23, 2011 at the Touch-N-Go Jumps N Jackpots Tournament in Hurricane, UT. Anna was running on the Lickety Splits Predator Pick-Up team in Standard Division 3. The other dogs on the team were Taz (Mixed Breed), Pirate (Mixed Breed), and Crack (Mixed Breed).
The Plaque and presentation was awarded on November 12, 2011 at the U-FLI® Championship Tournament in St. Louis, MO. Stan Eskridge presented Anna with a special one-of-a-kind "First to Achieve" T-shirt for her handler.
Anna will never achieve this final Award. She was diagnosed with Gastric Carcinoma (stomach cancer) passed away 2 days before her 11th birthday, August 20, 2014. Although we did not know it at the time, Anna's final race was in Ramona, CA her Flyball home for over 8 years. My husband and I would like to thank all the dogs and teams that made it possible for Anna get as far as she did. It was a long and exciting journey.
Little Anna Banana was the first dog to achieve all the U-FLI® milestone plaques except the very last one. She was the first to achieve every pin except for the first couple. Anna has been the U-FLI Top Dog since July, 2005. It was sad to see her life end just a couple tournaments away from earing the final Milestone plaque.
We know that there will someday be another dog that will earn this final award, however it will be rare for a dog to do this without double running. Anna never double ran and made it this far by running with great teams and multiple pick-up teams. Thank you each and everyone for helping us along the way.
Over Anna's short career she ran on 15 teams and traveled 71,602 miles (67,928 driven and 3,674 by air). We estimate that Anna ran over 89 miles in the U-FLI® Flyball Tournament lanes. Anna earned her FM in the NAFA league before U-FLI® was started. Her NAFA® history can be seen here. Practice miles run could not be calculated. The first 8 years we traveled 240 miles round trip for each practice.

My husband and I would like to thank all the dogs and teams that made it possible for Anna get as far as she did. It has been a long and exciting journey.
Little Anna Banana was the first dog to achieve all the U-FLI® milestone plaques except the very last one, 100K plaque. She missed achieving this award by just 2,795 (3 tournaments). Anna was the first to achieve every pin except for the first couple (she could have been the first because we all started at the same time and who knows what dog was the first to achieve). Anna has been the U-FLI® Top Dog since July, 2005.
We know that there will someday be another dog that will earn this final award, however it will be rare for a dog to do this without double running. Anna never double ran and made it this far by running with great teams and multiple pick-up teams. Thank you each and everyone for helping us along the way.
Over Anna's short career she ran on 15 teams and traveled 71,602 miles (67,928 driven and 3,674 flown). We estimate that Anna ran over 89 miles in the U-FLI® Flyball Tournament lanes. Practice miles could not be calculated. The first 8 years we traveled 240 miles round trip for each practice.
Anna ran with the Lickety Splits Flyball Racing Team from August 2004 to October 2012. She competed in 134 tournaments earning 75,015 points with the Lickety Splits dogs. In addition she ran 4 tournaments as a Lickety Splits pick-up team earning 1,290 points. The average team points earned per tournament was 560 and pick-up team points, 323.
We would like to thank Lickety Splits for always placing Anna on a fast steady team and supporting her to remain the U-FLI® Top Dog for so many years. She never would have been a contender had she not run with Lickety Splits. You will never know how much it means to us to have such a wonderful support team. It was a great ride while it lasted.
Although we did not know it at the time, Anna's final race was in Ramona, CA her Flyball home for over 8 years when she ran on the Lickety Splits Flyball Racing Team. Anna earned the final pin level III bar at this tournament.

Anna ran on the Catchers on the Fly Flyball Team from October 2012 to May 2013. She competed in 10 tournaments earning 5,170 points with the Catchers on the Fly dogs. In addition she ran 5 tournaments as a Catchers on the Fly pick-up team earning 1,580 points. The average team points earned per tournament was 517 and pick-up team points, 316.
We really enjoyed the year that we ran with Catchers on the Fly, however, after time it became more and more difficult to run Anna on a San Diego team while Luke was running on a local team so Anna moved to Luke’s team making participating a little easier on the family. We wish to thank Catchers for always placing Anna on a steady sub-20 second team so that she could earn the maximun points per tournament.
Thank you to the following Catchers on the Fly dogs for helping Anna maintain the Top Dog standing and earn the Final pin, Top Flight Ultimate (77,500 points).

Anna ran with the BARRK pick-up team one weekend in Madera, CA - March 2014. Anna's brother, Luke, enjoyed running with BARRK several times. This time it was Anna's turn and it was a blast! Thank you BARRK for helping Anna earn 590 points. The average team points earned per tournament day was 295. We always enjoy running with you in Madera.

Anna, Luke and I took a road trip to Canada in September of 2008. The weekend before Luke participated in a NAFA Flyball tournament in Chula Vista, CA. That week we played Flyball from the Mexican border to the Canadian border. Anna had been very sick with IBD prior to our trip. She was extreamily thin, but full of energy. The Barn Stormers took us in and made us feel as if we were part of their team. It was a wonderful experience running with the Canadians. They have some really nice traditions like shaking hands after racing and a Brag list. I introduced the Brag list at the Lickety Splits tournaments and now I see that nearly all tournament hosts are keeping up with the tradition. Nice to see this!
Anna only ran on Saturday because she needed to rest. Thank you Barn Stormers for helping Anna earn 340 points that tournament. I will hold that trip close to my heart the rest of my life! … And what a pleasant surprise to meet up with you again six years later in Gridley, CA for the Gold Coast Flyers’ Puppy Love tournament February, 2014.
Anna ran with the following Barn Stormers Dogs.

Anna ran with East Bay Ballers on a couple of pick-up teams one weekend in Madera, CA - March 2011 and another in Gridley, CA - February 2013. Anna's brother, Luke, enjoyed running with East Ball Ballers a few times. Thank you EBB it is always fun running with you guys. The team names you select are so clever. EBB North and South and EBB Clean, Mean, and a Little Bit Green.
Anna earn 1,200 points with East Bay Ballers. The average team points earned per tournament day was 400.

Anna ran one tournament on a Gold Coast Flyers Jack'd Up Pick-up team in Gridley, CA - September 2010. One other time she ran one heat with them, but the points were never recorded. One would think that we ran more with the Gold Coast because we were at several tournaments together. We always enjoy being with Laurie, Fran, Len and Maureen. Thank you Gold Coast for helping Anna earn 390 points.

Anna participated in several Madera tournaments on Pick-up teams that Leap of Faith helped to arrange. Only one weekend did she actually run on a LOF team— March 2012. It was an awesome experience because we were able to run with Aaron and Laura Hughes from Canada before Aaron passed away.
Saturday's Standard team name was Wing and a Prayer and Sunday's Variety team name was Everybody's Different. Thank you Leap of Faith for helping Anna on so many ocasions to run on pick-up teams and earn 855 points with your team. The average daily points was 428.
Anna ran with the following Leap of Faith dogs ...

I guess you could say that Anna literally got her start here. Anna’s Grandmother, Mother and Father plus a brother, niece and a couple of cousins all belong to the Pawdemonium Flyball Club. Anna raced with pandemonium in both U-FLI® and NAFA® tournaments. It was fun to see so many Danish/Swedish Farmdogs race together. Several times we ran as an all Farmdog team.
Anna also ran pairs with her Farmdog family members.
Farmdog Frenzy 1st and 10: Anna ran with her Dad, Solo. Solo was the first Danish/Swedish Farmdog to be born in the United States. Anna was the tenth. Anna and Solo ran in two tournaments as a pairs team. They also ran together on Standard teams in 4 tournaments.
Sister Act: Anna ran with her sister, Inge. Inge ran with the Sacramento Flyball Club for a short while.
Farmdogs Hannah-Anna Maniacs: Anna ran with her mother, Hannah. They also ran together on Standard teams in 3 tournaments.
Anna earn 1,060 points with Pawdemonium. The average team points earned per tournament day was 353.
It is always fun to run with the folks at Paw. Anna ran with the following Pawdemonium dogs...

Anna ran one tournament with the San Diego Flyball Team in Gridley, CA. February 2014. This team holds an extra special place in my heart. They found out that Anna’s pick-up team had to pull because of injuries and they made room just so Anna could run one day with them. They knew how close she was to earning the 100K title and sacrificed their team’s chances of placing in the tournament to help her move a little closer to the title. Anna was only able to run one day that weekend because her brother was participating in a NW3 trial on Sunday.
Not many teams would sacrifice tournament placement by running a pick-up team for one little dog to earn points. You will never know how much this means to me. Plus Anna had so much fun running with you guys!
Thank you SD Flyball!

Both Anna and Luke ran several tournaments with the SoCal Frequent Flyer dogs. Four tournaments as Orange Crush, 1 tournament as SoCal Frequent Flyers and 2 or 3 tournament as an All Danish/Swedish Farmdog team. Anna and Luke also ran with the SoCal Frequent Flyer dogs in a couple of NAFA tournaments. The Farmdogs on their team are “Family”. Anna and Luke’s older brother Cooper is Nellie’s father. Nellie’s mother is Anna and Luke’s Aunt. Anna and Luke’s cousin, Dottie, is Tabatha’s mother.
One tournament where we ran the all Farmdog team our name was “Farmdog Family Affair”. We had t-shirts that showed the family tree and the statement at the bottom that said “Incest is Relative”. We had all kinds of comments about the shirts, however we were asked to not wear them the following day as it offended some people. Just another funny Farmdog memory of my wonderful, wonderful life with Anna.
Anna earned 1365 points with Orange Crush, and 325 points with SoCal Frequent Flyers. They averaged 338 points per tournament.

The first Pick-up team Anna ran on was Touch-n-Go's "Size Doesen't Matter" team at Mere Island, CA - September 2005. This was quite an experiance for both me and Anna. We traveled with the team up to Northern CA and ran in an indoor soccor field. We were part of the famous TNG Caravan to and from the motel. Something everyone should experience at least once in a life time.
The tournament was really fun. Anna surprised the box loader, Little Bret, when she bobbled the ball at the box. He loaded a ball for the next dog, she heard the box and whipped around and took the ball from the box. Unfortunately it was a flag, but the surprise on Bret’s face was priceless.
Anna also had the opportunity to practice in Las Vegas with Touch-N-Go on several occasions.
Anna earned 875 points with Touch-N-Go and averaged 438 points per tournament. She raced with the following Touch-N-Go dogs.
